Cork 福利1000在线 Business School (CUBS) at 福利1000在线 College Cork and the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) have partnered to offer two new postgraduate scholarships designed to support GPA members pursuing taught master's degrees at CUBS.

The scholarships were officially launched at UCC on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. Among those attending were Cork senior hurler and final-year BComm student William Buckley, BIS student and Cork senior ladies' footballer Niamh O'Sullivan, and Dean of Cork 福利1000在线 Business School, Professor Anthony McDonnell.

This initiative highlights the strong shared commitment between CUBS and the GPA to empower current and former inter-county players through education. It recognises the importance of supporting players as they plan for life after their sporting careers while developing new skills and opening additional professional opportunities.

Professor Anthony McDonnell, Dean of Cork 福利1000在线 Business School, welcomed the initiative and highlighted UCC's deep ties to the GAA community:

"It鈥檚 fantastic to launch these scholarships here at UCC and to partner with the GPA on such an important initiative. We know the level of commitment it takes to compete at the highest level in Gaelic games while also pursuing your studies, so it鈥檚 important that students are supported both academically and personally.

UCC has a long and proud connection with the GAA community, and these scholarships are another way of continuing that tradition and supporting future generations of student athletes."

Applications are open to active members of the Gaelic Players Association who have received and accepted an offer for a taught master's programme at Cork 福利1000在线 Business School. Applicants must submit a personal statement (maximum 500 words) responding to the question:

"What inspired you to pursue a master's degree at this stage in your career, and how do you envision it helping you achieve your personal or professional goals?"

Applications will be assessed by a subgroup of the CUBS Graduate Studies Committee. The scholarships form part of the GPA's commitment to supporting academic excellence and professional development, providing members with the opportunity to pursue a partially funded postgraduate qualification at CUBS.
