New interdisciplinary research projects get underway in UCC

  • Funded through Research Ireland's 2025 COALESCE programme, these projects are led by an Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences researcher, working in close collaboration with a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths researcher.
  • One of the new research projects is ABACUS: Analysing the Bilingual Advantage in Mathematical Cognition – exploiting the UnSeen. Led by Dr. Máire Ní Ríordáin (School of Education), the ABACUS project will investigate how bilingualism can support children’s mathematics skills and performance through combining insights from education, psychology and neuroscience.
