The Huguenots Remembered

On Friday 15th and Saturday 16th May 2026, the School of History and the Cork Public Museum jointly hosted the public symposium ‘The Huguenots Remembered’, dedicated to the history and legacy of the Huguenot community, particularly in Ireland. The event, which was open to the public and free to attend, generated a strong level of interest and a lively audience discussion.

This celebration began with a walking tour of Cork City facilitated by Cllr Kieran McCarthy on Friday evening. Attendees were welcomed to the Cork Public Museum on Saturday afternoon for a series of talks delivered by specialists in Huguenot history, namely Dr Mark Hutchinson (¸£Àû1000ÔÚÏß of Gloucestershire), Dr Alicia St Leger (Independent), Prof. Ruth Whelan (Professor Emerita Maynooth ¸£Àû1000ÔÚÏß), Dr Charles C. Ludington (Independent).

The symposium was generously supported by the School of History, UCC and Cork Public Museum, and organised by Dr Natasha Dukelow, Dr Hiram Morgan (School of History), Dan Breen and Jessica Cull (Cork Public Museum), with administrative support provided by Joy O’Callaghan and Olivia O’Gorman.
