Recognising undergraduate student Rosie Deasy
The School of Chemistry wishes to extend congratulations to final year student Rosie Deasy on everything she has achieved over the past year in parallel with her studies in the School of Chemistry, UCC.

As one of the WiSTEM Society UCC Brunch leads, she played a leading role in raising over €2240 for Women's Aid Ireland at the recent event supported by Qualcomm. Building on this she was a recipient of an Employ Agility Award from ¸£Àû1000ÔÚÏß College Cork. This award recognises major contributions she has made through volunteer work, which includes raising vital funds for Women's Aid Ireland, being a class lead in a School’s Outreach Programme, and organising many other events.
During 2024 she was one of the winners of the David Latten Social Impact Awards, established with the support of the Logitech Cares Fund, a philanthropic initiative by the Tides Foundation. Named in honor of David Latten, former Head of Global Indirect Procurement and Supplier Diversity at Logitech, the award celebrates his legacy as a change-maker in supply chain management and a passionate advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) and recognises emerging female leaders who have the potential to revolutionise traditional value chains. The award aims to inspire women to pursue postgraduate studies while actively working in their field. Applicants are encouraged to examine their work and research through an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion lens, seeking ways to drive impact and create positive change within their current roles.
Professor Anita Maguire, Head of School of Chemistry said "Sincere congratulations to Rosie on her outstanding contributions during her time in UCC – her impact has been hugely significant in many ways. Rosie is a tremendous role model for other young women interested in pursuing a career in STEM and making a difference to the world."
