The Arts Council and UCC welcome Maximilian Le Cain as the newly appointed Film Artist in Residence for 2023.

The Film Artist in Residence role, based in the School of Film, Music and Theatre, is jointly funded by the Arts Council and UCC. It is designed to provide a film artist of distinction with a unique opportunity to develop their practice in a university environment, while offering students and staff of Film & Screen Media the opportunity to engage with a practising artist in a meaningful way during the course of their studies and wider cultural involvement in campus life.

The UCC/Arts Council Film Artist in Residence for 2022, Yvonne McDevitt, will be presenting a selection of her work and films from artists that have inspired her, in a special event at this year's Cork International Film Festival. Yvonne will be joined by filmmaker Maximilliam Le Cain and the evening will be moderated by Professor Laura Rascaroli of the Dept. of Film and Screen Media.

Originally from Ireland, began his post-production career at Windmill Lane and EMC in Dublin, before relocating to London in 2014 to join The Mill. He then moved stateside to Chicago to become Head of Color at The Mill Chicago in 2020. Accolades include a Silver at the Creative Circle Awards for 鈥淪till the Most Shocking Second a Day,鈥 Jeep鈥檚#1 Superbowl spot in 2020, an AICP nomination for Jeep鈥檚 鈥淕roundhog Day鈥 and Sephora鈥檚 鈥淚dentify as We,鈥 and a UKMVA nomination for Radiohead鈥檚 鈥淚 Promise.鈥 O鈥橠riscoll also collaborated with Dua Lipa & Martin Garrix on 鈥淪cared to Be Lonely,鈥 which received an MTV Video Play Award. Additionally, he graded the #1 Superbowl spot from Rocket Mortgage in 2022. Agency clients include Highdive US, Leo Burnett, Droga5, FCB, DDB, Energy BBDO, McGarry Bowen, MRM/McCann, and R/GA. Amongst many others, O鈥橠riscoll鈥檚 branded content portfolio includes Calvin Klein, Gucci, Riot Games, Sephora, Audi, Johnnie Walker, Jeep, Rocket Mortgage, and Ralph Lauren. His music video collaborations include artists, Lana Del Ray, Dua Lipa, Radiohead, ALT-J, and Sampha.
